Michigan Cabin
These are some pictures from Steve's cabin near Dewagiac, Michigan where I learned about permaculture and sound recording. Steve has 16 acres of land that he is using to bring back forgotten varieties of plant species. He is also starting an artist residency at a cabin he is building in the forest.
Lakeside Tour
Before the official opening of Lakeside, we were given access to the development. There is still a lot of remaining infrastructure left over from the steel mill.
Trip to the Velodrome
These are a few pictures from our last interview at the Chicago Velocampus. Mr. Bianchi explained to us the challenges and opportunities in starting a velodrome in South Chicago, and how he hopes to encourage a bicycle culture in the neighborhood.

I'm back in Chicago filming for the fall. For the next two months I'll be working on the documentary on the weekends and exploring the downtown area during the week.
South Chicago Graffiti
Yesterday we filmed an annual event that brings community members together for a day of watching neighborhood graffiti artists covering a long wall that runs along the train tracks.

Independence Day
Happy 4th of July. Today we watched fireworks really far away on the other side of the lake from navy pier, which made them look miniature. The bike ride back was surreal though, with everyone in the neighborhood firing off their own fireworks. There weren't many people driving on the street, so I felt like a war correspondent, biking through an empty city with random firecrackers going off around me that sounded like small arms fire.

South Chicago Neighborhood House
The SCNH is a community center that provides after school programs to the youth in the surrounding neighborhood. We stopped by to get some interviews and talk with residents about how much of an impact the center has on the community.
